Happy Thanksgiving!

Well we made it despite the weathers help! We had such a wonderful weekend. As we woke up on Sunday to come home, Luke yelled, "I'm not leaving!" I'm pretty sure we all had a great time.

Here is a picture of my brother doing a flip into the snow.
Here is Nick off of the amazing jump they built.
Here is my sister Markie...she is so cute!
I hardly saw Tad and Austin the whole time. They had so much fun outside in the snow. They found a great hill to sled on. Then they would build jumps to go off. You would think Austin wouldn't go for this, but he was one rough tough boy!
Seriously, this boy was a maniac. He would stay out their in 10 degree weather for hours just sledding with the big guys. No one had to carry him or anything. I was totally impressed if you can't tell.
Here is documentation that I got out of the cabin. Why would a pregnant woman want to leave the comforts of the warm fire anyways?
This was so cute. Smitty taught Luke to throw the snow off of the side and say "Hi-yah!" Luke was entertained for at least 30 minutes with this activity.

In the mornings the boys liked to chill on these super amazing blankets and watch a show next to the fire. Does life get any better... PJ's, fire, show?

For one of our activities we got to go ice skating. We got Austin some skates and he decided that he was not going to try.
... but Luke would!

Luke loved it so much that when someone would bring him back he would scream for them to come back. He was lovin' it!
Everyone tried to coax Austin into skating, but he wouldn't budge. I think he was probably hungry and tired. Too much fun sledding I think.
Finally the activity that I planned because well I could do it - Gingerbread House making.
We had a good time although Austin was pretty bummed that our house didn't win. Sorry Austin I tried really hard. The award went to Heber's TP house. Points for ingenuity and creativity won this time. You're on for next year though Heber!
Well we hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving like we did. Now on to P90X for Tad and some treadmill walking for me to work off all of that amazing food we ate.
Big shout out to my parents from the Bakers for a stinkin awesome weekend!

Winter Wonderland!

Well this is what is looks like outside. We have had Tad at home today because they have even cancelled work. All of the roads are closed. This is some pretty crazy weather.

The wind is horrible and has drifted the snow everywhere. We figure we have about 15" of snow in the last 2 days. Crazy!
Here is our back yard. If the blizzard ever stops we think we could sled down that huge drift pile of snow:)
Here is a picture out our front door. Our drive way was all clean as of this morning. Now their is a huge drift covering it. Yesterday I got stuck just getting out of my garage.

So what have we been doing? We decided to decorate our tree and house, despite Tad's refusal. The boys and I think it is great. We hope tomorrow we get to drive to see all of my family, but it isn't looking so great:(

Festival of Trees

Here was Tad, Austin, and I's project for the last two weeks. We have these three sisters in our ward who put on this festival of trees every year. All the proceeds go to a developmentally challenged program for adults. They needed one more person to decorate the tree (someone had already sponsored it) and the called me. I think they were a little shocked when I said that Tad would be the one to help me, but they don't know the skills my Taddy Boy has. Boy I couldn't have done it without him. He was a little upset at my theme because it was pretty cutesie and girly, but if we do it again we will do something more his style.
For the topper I was totally stumped right until we put it on the tree. It ended up being my favorite part (Thanks Taddy Boy!)
My theme was "Sugar & Spice." I put cinnamon pine cones in the middle of the tree just to give the fragrance. Then I found gingerbread men and women for ornaments. We also hot glued some candy canes together to make hearts and put some cinnamon sticks to decorate the middle. The icicles looked like they had sugar crystals on them. Finally my crowning touch for the theme was the copper cookie cutters as ornaments.
Austin helped me make all of the icicles. It is a great project if you are looking for a fun one with kids. You take pipe cleaners and shape them. Then you boil water. Pour water into a glass jar and then add powdered Borax (3 Tablespoons per cup of boiling water). Mix well. Tie a string to your pipe cleaner and then string that on a pencil to hold the pipe cleaner from hitting the sides. Let them sit in your solution over night. When you wake up you will have crystals all over your pipe cleaners. I really like the hearts and trees. For this tree we only shaped them into icicles.
I wish I would have taken Austin to decorate the tree he would have been great help, but it was fun for Tad and I to go decorate it. Whew! We are glad that is done:)

Goals

I'm a goal oriented soul. What can I say... it is part of my make-up.
Goal #1: To post funny/creative blogs about nothing
This one however is most likely unattainable. I secretly covet those of you who it just naturally flows to post something amazingly funny, in descriptions that make it so vivid that you know exactly what they mean. Jealousy. Maybe I should change the goal to be to work on the coveting.
Goal #2: To get fixed up everyday.
I have been working on this because it is a struggle for me. I start out the day working out which is good. But then it comes to about 4:30 in the afternoon and I think gee I think I was done with my workout about 7 hours ago I should probably get in the shower before Tad gets home. Sad. I found this picture on someone's blog and thought... I should try that. Wish me luck. Anything has to be better than sweats and a ponytail right?

Goal #3: Not to watch as much TV at our house
Okay this is really the only goal I'm getting some where on. It probably is the only one that really matters to me. The boys are doing so much better at. We were all sick a few weeks ago and we got in this terrible habit of watching too much TV. Therefore, to get out of this rut we made TV tickets. When the tickets run out the TV stays off for the day. Yahoo! Playing with toys or dancing in the living room is so much more fun than PBS anyways. The creativity that is made makes me laugh all day!
